The primary tool used by advertisers to attract users and drive traffic to the casino is the banner, as used extensively on the Internet today. When users click on a banner they are redirected to a casino URL. A tracking script embedded in the banner registers the user's click, the advertiser who placed the ad, whose webpage (URL) the user was viewing when the ad/banner was clicked. When users open a casino account, the affiliate system continues tracking them for as long as they maintain an account and calculates the residual (ongoing) revenue earned by the referring advertiser.

To improve their campaigns, advertisers can categorize banners into logical groups, or profiles, according to target audiences.
